Cranberry Raspberry Sherbet Punch: An Easy Non-Alcohol Party Punch
From the Recipe Box of my Mother-in-Law
Some recipes arrive with a story. This one arrived with a recipe card — and the most perfectly honest description I have ever read on one.
This Cranberry Raspberry Sherbet Punch comes from my mother-in-law’s recipe index, and her note on the card says everything you need to know:
“This is the only punch I have ever made. It is always a hit and is so easy.”
That is it. No elaboration needed. This was her singular go-to punch for years — the one she brought to every shower, every holiday party, every celebration — and can say with complete confidence that it has never once failed her.
In my book, that is a recipe worth writing down and passing along.
This is that recipe.
Three ingredients. No blender, no shaker, no bar tools. Pour, serve, and watch the punch bowl empty itself.
Why This Punch Works Every Single Time
There is a category of recipe that sounds almost too simple to be as good as people say it is. This punch is in that category, and like most recipes in that category, the simplicity is the point.
Cranberry juice brings tartness, color, and that beautiful deep ruby hue that makes any punch bowl look like something special. It is also versatile enough to work at Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Easter, a bridal shower, a baby shower, or a backyard birthday party — the color reads as festive no matter the occasion.
Lemon-lime soda provides the fizz and brightness that lifts the whole punch. The carbonation keeps the drink from feeling heavy or sweet, and the lemon-lime note cuts through the richness of the sherbet beautifully.
Raspberry sherbet is the secret weapon. It acts simultaneously as the sweetener, the flavor, and the visual centerpiece of the bowl — floating on top of the punch in scoops, slowly melting into the liquid and turning every glass a gorgeous pale pink as it does. It also keeps the punch cold without watering it down the way ice does, making it one of the most practical party punch tricks you will ever learn.
The result is a drink that is tart, sweet, fizzy, fruity, and cold — and it looks stunning in a glass.
Ingredients
Serves approximately 20–25 punch cup servings
- 2 quarts cranberry juice, chilled
- 2 quarts lemon-lime soda (Sprite or 7UP), chilled
- ½ gallon raspberry sherbet
That is the whole list. Make sure everything is well chilled before you start — cold ingredients keep the sherbet from melting too quickly and ensure the punch stays at the right temperature longer.
How to Make Cranberry Raspberry Sherbet Punch
Step 1: Scoop the raspberry sherbet into the bottom and center of your punch bowl in generous scoops. Do not stir or spread it — you want the scoops to float and melt slowly into the punch rather than dissolving all at once.
Step 2: Pour the chilled cranberry juice over the sherbet.
Step 3: Gently pour the chilled lemon-lime soda over the top, pouring slowly along the side of the bowl to preserve as much carbonation as possible.
Step 4: Serve immediately and enjoy. Ladle into punch cups, wine glasses, or stemmed glasses for a beautiful presentation.
That is genuinely the whole process. Start to finish, this punch is ready in under five minutes.

Tips for Serving and Scaling
Keep everything cold ahead of time. The cranberry juice and soda should both go into the refrigerator the night before or morning of your party. Warm liquids will cause the sherbet to melt too fast, which flattens the carbonation and makes the punch less cold by the time it reaches the second pour.
Scoop the sherbet last. If you add the sherbet before the liquids, it can shift and spill as you pour. Get your juices and soda in first, then add the sherbet scoops on top for the most dramatic presentation.
Refill the sherbet as needed. At a longer party, add fresh scoops of sherbet as the punch bowl gets low rather than trying to keep everything mixed from the start. It refreshes the presentation and keeps the punch cold throughout the event.
Scale up easily. This recipe doubles and triples perfectly without any adjustments to the ratio. For a large crowd, use a big punch bowl and simply keep the 2:2:½ ratio of cranberry juice to soda to sherbet.
Make it boozy. A bottle of chilled Moscato, prosecco, or champagne in place of one quart of the lemon-lime soda makes a beautiful adult version. You can also add a bottle of chilled raspberry vodka for a full cocktail punch. The base recipe is so well-balanced that neither addition overwhelms it.
Garnish ideas. Fresh or frozen raspberries floating in the punch bowl look beautiful and add a little extra berry flavor as they thaw. A few thin slices of lime on the surface add color and a visual hint of the lemon-lime soda underneath.
When to Make This Punch
The beauty of this sherbet punch recipe is how many occasions it fits:
Baby showers and bridal showers — The pink color and light, sweet flavor make it one of the most universally requested shower punches. The non-alcoholic base means every guest can enjoy it, with an easy boozy upgrade option available on the side.
Christmas and holiday parties — The deep cranberry red of the base with the raspberry pink sherbet is stunning on a holiday table. Pair it with our Cranberry Apple Cider as a warm non-alcoholic option alongside the cold punch and you have the whole holiday spread covered.
New Year’s Eve — Add prosecco or champagne to the punch for a festive, celebratory version that feels appropriately special for ringing in the new year.
Valentine’s Day — The color alone earns it a spot at any Valentine’s table. Heart-shaped ice molds in the punch bowl make it feel even more intentional.
Easter and spring celebrations — Light, fresh, and fruit-forward — this punch feels perfectly at home at a spring brunch table.
Birthday parties and potlucks — Three ingredients, feeds a crowd, and always gets compliments. This is the definition of a reliable potluck contribution.
