When I got my Instant Pot Omni Plus it was a game changer. Not only was I able to make my own rotating rotisserie chicken, fry bacon in 5 minutes, and turn out sweet potato fries that were restaurant quality but our Buffalo Chicken Wings went from good to AMAZING!
No kidding! We have made Buffalo Chicken Wings a dozen or so times, but could never get the balance of crispy and juicy just right in our conventional ovens. They were either too greasy, or too dry, not crunchy, or just not that “something special” that you know is missing as soon as you take a bite. I’m sure we could have figured out the nuances of our oven to make it work, but who has time for that?
Enter the Instant Pot Omni Plus.
As the kids say now days, OMG. This thing has NO nuance. Push a few buttons, wait, flip the wings, wait, flip again and DONE! You’ve made wings as good as any place you could drive across to and from the comfort of your own kitchen. How cool is that? All that’s left is the perfect sauce. Below is our can’t miss go to recipe that even our kids like. It’s the Goldie Locks of buffalo sauce: juuuuuust right.
Ingredients
- Flat of 12 frozen chicken wings, cut into 24 pieces
- Olive oil or Coconut oil sprayer
- 2/3 cup favorite Hot Sauce (we use Frank’s)
- 1/2 cup Butter
- 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
- 1/2 tsp – 1 tsp Worcestershire Sauce
- 1 1/2 Tbsp Red Pepper Vinegar (see below recipe) or White Vinegar
- Salt to taste
Directions
Cut your frozen chicken wings into 2 pieces each, making a drumette or “drummy” and a flat. Arrange on the wire tray as close as you can get, minimizing touching. Cook in your Air Fryer at 400 F for 15 minutes.
While cooking , make up your Buffalo Sauce by first heating the butter in a pot on the stove and then adding the remaining ingredients. Be sure to taste before serving, you will most likely need to add some table salt.

Your first timer should be almost done. Grab some tongs or a spatula and flip the wings gently. Don’t tear that delicious skin off! Back in the Air Fryer for 10 minutes. Flip back to the first side one more time (gently!) and spray with Olive Oil or Coconut Oil (key to crispy perfection). Air Fry for 5 more minutes.

Dump all of the wings into a large bowl and slather in the Buffalo Sauce. Serve with your favorite sides like blue-cheese and celery.

Extra Recipe: Red Pepper Vinegar

This is so easy it’s silly: use a mason jar filled with white vinegar and place dried red peppers and let sit overnight. We use this in so many dishes like Thai bowls, Stir Fry, French Fries, Salads, anything you need some spicy tang.
