A Champagne Cocktail is a timeless drink, and if you want to try making a classic Champagne Cocktail at home, here’s how to enjoy it.

bottoms up, Champagne Cocktail, Golden Hour

For two years we were lucky enough to have been stationed in one of the coolest Army bases ever– Kwajalein Atoll, in the Republic of the Marshall Islands. The Golden Hour Champagne Cocktail was created while enjoying the beautiful and awe inspiring sunsets over the pacific ocean during our time there. These daily views inspired creativity and passions to flourish.

This drink was created on our back porch/ lanai one evening while we watched the sun touch the ocean and cast colors across the sky like a painting made personally for just us.

Nathan and I have always loved Champagne, so cocktails like The Golden Hour became an easy and beautiful collaboration like always, but creating this one in such a special place — it will forever be one of my favorites.

Like so many cocktails, I do believe the unique and beautiful people you share those moments with are what makes the nights special, but the marrying of specific ingredients are what takes it over the top into something you always try to recreate.

On our tiny little island ingredients were a lot of times very sparse, and we made due with what we could find, so don’t be fixated on the brands in the picture, but I just had to use the photos from the back porch.

Like I said, those moments will be something Nathan and I will try to recreate forever, so your champagne and gin used can be of any variety.

I hope that you also make amazing memories while enjoying The Golden Hour just like we did and still do but with a different back porch and very different view.

Ingredients:

  • Champagne, chilled, preferably Dry
  • 1/2-1 oz Gin (we prefer more flowery flavors like Hendricks or Gastro)
  • Angostura Bitters, 2-3 shakes
  • Sugar (cube)

Directions:

  • Start by placing the sugar cube in the middle of the Champagne Coupe and shaking 2-3 drops of Angostura Bitters on to it.
  • Next, add the Gin of your choice on top of the sugar and bitters and swirl it around a bit to break up the sugar
  • Top with your favorite Champagne and enjoy The Golden Hour!
